Wow, Farkel, you are an XJW leader! Did you know that? What are our orders, sir?
IW, do you realize you are stereotyping XJW's?

i wonder sometimes if to outsiders who visit this and other xjw discussion boards it seems as if xjws never "bought the farm" and that's why they look down on those who did.
there is much ridicule of the rank and file here, why?
if we placed literature, conducted a bible study, brought a bible study to the point of baptism, gave talks, commented at the watchtower study, volunteered,

in a followup to the march 22, 2002 awake series of articles on earthquakes, the nov 8, 2002 awake has a letter from a reader questioning the frequency of earthquakes.
earthquakes i read the cover series "earthquake survivors tell their story.
" (march 22, 2002) in it you quote a source stating that"earthquakes of 7.0 magnitude and greater remained 'fairly constant' throughout the20th century.

Earthquakes I read the cover series "Earthquake Survivors Tell Their Story." (March 22, 2002) In it you quote a source stating that"earthquakes of 7.0 magnitude and greater remained 'fairly constant' throughout the20th century." Yet the 1999 World Almanac shows a dramatic increase in earthquakes during the 1990's.
"Awake!" responds: Without taking sides on this issue, our article merely pointed out what some seismologists assert regarding the overall frequency of earthquakes in the 20th century. The point was made that even if one believes that the number of earthquakes has remained "fairly constant," Jesus' prophecy recorded in Matthew 24 is being fulfilled in our era. Jesus simply said that "great earthquakes would occur.--Luke 12:11.
This is amazing! I guess all those Watchtower publications such as the Reasoning book, that claimed a major increase in the frequency of earthquakes since 1914, are now officially "old light." Unbelievable!
1: what is the official watchtower society child abuse policy?.
22: are child molesters ever allowed to go door-to-door alone?
35: (very important question) is it true that former governing body member leo greenlees was removed from the governing body for a molesting a child?
Un, great list of questions!
Sword, way to go, you are an awesome troll! You actually went through and answered all those questions, some of them correctly. Its not just answering the questions though, its thinking about the implications.
why dont they just come out and tell the real truth?
i guess since they wont do it for themselves, i humbly (yes, i use this word "humbly" loosely, since i am the boards most humble person) will do it for them.. .
what is it that the wtbts sells?
D8TA, I'm not sure, but I get the feeling you might be having doubts about the truth. Maybe I'm reading too much into your comments. I hope I'm wrong. (smiley for the humor-impaired).
here is what i believe the watchtower society needs to do in 5 clear steps.
that is if they are to avoid the coming "trainwreck" of being forced out of business: .
1. take full and complete responsibility for their part in the bad policies with respect to blood, sexual molestation, and shunning.
4. Immediately change their policy to a Zero Tolerance program for pedophiles, continuing this process as each new molester emerges. End shunning and terminate their no-blood policy.
How exactly do you reconcile Zero Tolerance for pedophiles and an end to shunning? What do you want them to do with pedophiles? I certainly want nothing to do with pedophiles, and I have no problem shunning them.
This is the problem when you mix all these issues together. I have heard people here complain that some pedophiles 'got off with a slap on the wrist' by being disfellowshipped, and then turn around and complain what a cruel punishment DFing is. Which is it?
By the way, I do have personal experience with someone getting the slap on the wrist, so I am not just asking to make waves.

15 (quote) something else is noteworthy about jesus' reference to the road that went "down from jerusalem to jericho".
according to the story, first a priest and then a levite were also traveling that road-although neither stopped to help the victim (luke 10: 31, 32 ) the priests served at the temple in jerusalem and the levites assisted them.
I thought it was interesting too, when I read it. I used to enjoy little bits like this, I thought it showed that some of the writers really did their homework in presenting the material. Of course, lately I have come to realize just how badly the Watchtower completely misses the point of Jesus' whole illustration of the neighborly Samaritan.
long time lurker, first time poster.
finally taking the plunge.
i started reading here and other sites last summer, after years of declining 'spirituality'.
The cover is from the Sept issue of the Watchtower, which contains a series of articles on the benefits of apologizing. I find it very ironic for an organization that has never apologized to print this type of information. So thats why I chose it as my picture, and my screen name of 'No Apologies'

Thanks for all the advice. Dantheman, I have not read COC yet. haven't figured out a discreet way to get hold of it. Playing it cool is definitely my plan. Paranoia is what has kept me lurking here so long without joining in. Hopefully though, soon my need for caution will be gone.

Hey thanks for all the welcomes. I am a heavy duty Internet user, but this is really the first chat/discussion board I have ever really joined. I can't believe all the replies in just a couple hours. Yes, I have learned a few things at this board, to where I can tell there are real people behind the handles, and I have some posters I always look for. Farkel, Metatron, Amazing, and oh yes Hawkaw. Guess I lean more to the non-fluff posts too, sorry. But I like the posts that pack some real ammo, ie, verifiable, factual dirt on our favorite publishing conglomerate The whole UN issue hit me like a ton of bricks, the first time I went to the UN website and saw WTB&TS listed with all those other organizations! It really confirmed all my doubts, especially when they came up with the lamest excuses, again, easily refuted.
But I am at work so I better go. Later. thanks again for the warm welcome.

long time lurker, first time poster. finally taking the plunge. I started reading here and other sites last summer, after years of declining 'spirituality'. Some of it was interesting, some was infuriating to a still somewhat loyal dub, but eventually most of it clicked and I wonder how I could have ever been so dumb.. Well you know what I mean.
Anyway enough about me. Just wanted to say hi for now.
ps. thanks to whoever scanned that WT cover. When I got that issue in the mail, my jaw just dropped. Is there no limit to their arrogance?!?!?
